Spencer's Take 2, Semana 9

Monday, July 7, 2014

Soooo I seriously feel like I have lost half of my English vocabulary! I find myself struggling every day to find the words I need but the only thing that comes to my mind are the Spanish versions of the words I have forgotten. I now understand how missionaries get home and speak in broken English when they give their welcome home talks! It is rough! And I'm not even speaking Spanish 100% of the time!

As always, I need to share my thoughts as to how time is flying by!!!! I do not understand how I am already in the 4th week of this transfer! It feels like just a week ago that this transfer started! I reached 8 months in my mission on this past Saturday! This week has been a very special one due to the huge group of 9 or so progressing investigators that we are teaching. Every single one of them are so amazing and they are truly the "escogidos" (chosen ones) that every missionary searches for. They are all truly miraculous to work with. They all are receiving revelation like they should and all have desires to follow the Lord.

This week we had a true miracle. Elder Acevedo and I received a referral from the other elders that live with us for a guy named Julio Cesar. We went and passed by the address we received but it led us to an unfinished complex-house-center-thing-type-place. We were super confused! After knocking doors of the neighboring houses for a while we started heading to our next appointment. On our way out of the neighborhood, out of a very small man walking in our direction, came the words "Elders!" we knew it was him immediately! It turned out that he did indeed live in the direction we received but in a tiny shack in back. We had a super powerful lesson where the Spirit was as thick as fog even though he was clearly drunk! He begged us to help him and not to fail him. That night I saw a man who had clearly reached rock bottom and was screaming for help! I have never felt so sure that the gospel could help someone as I testified to that man that night. I know our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us and that He has prepared a way for us to get to live with Him again some day!

I love you so much! Thanks for the supportive prayers.

Con muchisimo amor,
Elder McKee
