The MTC is amazing! I have loved every minute of my time here so far! The first day was pretty crazy just because I was on brain overload! I arrived to the curb, my bags were snatched out of the trunk and I was told to follow! I followed an elder to drop my bags off at my room and then went straight to class! My teacher walked in and just blasted me and my district in the face with Spanish.
My companions name is Elder Cowan! He is about 6'4" and 140 pounds. He is one tall lanky hunk of missionary! My entire district is awesome! It consists of Elder Urrutia from Sandy Utah, Elder Colbert from Pittsburg, Elder Peterson from Eagle Mountain Utah, Elder Unguez from Washington and the hermanas, Hermana Hansan from Spanish Fork Utah, Hermana Stratford from Logan Utah, and Hermana Sawyer from Greenville Utah! They are all amazing and we all get along so well, maybe too well! We quote Nacho Libre like crazy probably because we all have Spanish accents now! The spirit lives in the walls of the MTC! You seriously feel like you are in a different world (partly because you are!)
I have been called to serve as the first district leader of district 53 A and I love it. I have learned so much from the opportunity I have to lead. I have really learned to lead as Jesus Christ did with complete and sincere love and I now know there is no better way to do it. Learning the language is do or die here and you better catch on fast! To my surprise I am picking up the language really well! I love Spanish! I can't even imagine the day when I speak Spanish fluently! The gift of tounges is a real thing! I have experienced it already. My companion and I were thrown into teaching an investigator on day three.... in Español!!!!! We did really well! We taught him all week and have committed him to be baptized!
The MTC is nothing to worry about. Seriously! Unless you really hate awesome people, having the Spirit as your constant companion, more cute girls than you have ever seen in one place and learning new language with an unfair advantage! I miss and love you all and hope to hear from more of you this week!
