Spencer's Take 2, Semana 1

May 12, 2014

Hey family and friends!!!!!! I am loving it here!!!!! The traveling was horrible. It was so long. Seriously 2 days of traveling sucks!!! It is almost impossible for me to sleep in planes! It's all good though. I almost missed my flight from LA to ATL because the plane from Vegas was delayed. I almost had to stay the night in LA which would have been soooo bad! Luckily it all worked out!

When I arrived in Buenos Aires I was brought to the temple where I waited some time for my flight to Salta. It was soooo pretty there! And I had my first taste in a long time of my beloved empanadas!!! I missed them! I got assigned to work in the city of Jujuy! It is literally a jungle here! My area is up on the mountain side and it is soooo beautiful!

My companions name is Elder Acevedo from Logan Utah. We live with two other elders, Elder Dawson and Elder Shallenberg. I was with Elder Dawson in Texas so it was soooo fun to see him! We are good buddies, all of us are, so we have a good time when the work is done each night haha :p We are currently having a lot of success! We teach a lot every day and are feeling the blessings of the Lord so much! Thanks to your thoughts and prayers I am sure! We had a baptism planned for the 17 of this month but it's not going to happen. His name is carlos and he is awesome! The only problem is he didn't come to church this week so now he has to wait another week or so. That is the biggest and hardest problem here in Argentina I would say. Just getting people to work! The people are kind of lazy. They let us in and listen to our message lovingly but just don't get up and go to church :( It's all good though! The ones with desires will be blessed!

I don't have a lot of time, sorry! I already lost some of my typing speed! Also lexie wrote like 5 pages that I read and it took like 30 minutes! Elin, the cat is super cute! Name him ollie! Jonah, get your mission papers in now! Alec, lift more weights! Everyday! Brandon, Brett, Skylar, I love and miss you guys! Don't have too much fun without me! Mom and dad, I love you! Adjusting to mission life was waaayyyy easier than I thought it was going to be! Even my Spanish is still good! Obviously not perfect but I didn't lose too much while at home. I have felt the love of Heavenly Father here so much this week! I really feel His forgiveness by evidence of the blessings He has poured on my companion and I! I look forward to sharing stories of our success!

Con muchisimo amor y que dios les bendiga,
Elder Spencer McKee
