Soooo this week has been an awesome one! The only thing I have to complain about is that our investigator didn't come to church today so he will unfortunately not be getting baptized this week! This epic failure made me think a lot as to what me and my companion are doing wrong. Why are the commitments we extend not being completed? Well, I took a stroll into the forest and found a beautiful meadow where I then started to punch dance my rage out. Then, after I took a horrible spill down a hill I decided to pray! I realized that we were lacking with the personalization of our teaching. We were teaching lessons to people instead of teaching people lessons. Sunday evening my companion and I began putting our revelation to work! We had so many contacts and really felt love for the people we were talking to. I know that if I want to baptize a lot of people I have to open my mouth and talk as well as open my heart and love.
On Tuesday my comp, aka district leader extended us the challenge the Christ like attribute of diligence. I studied immediately the next day. What I learned is not the basic, work and keep working when you don't want to work anymore... I learned that diligence is about loving what you are doing and enjoy doing it! I am really trying to be as positive as possible, especially when it is the end of the day and my legs feel like they are about to crumble from under me from soooo much walking! Our area is up on the side of a mountain basically. All roads are dirt except for the 2 main cross roads. My comp told me as we first met each other that our area was ,"Muy cheto" which means really rich. I have yet to see the rich side of our area. Literally thus far I have only seen half of our area. So far the words I would use to describe it are: dogs, dirt, brick houses, sewers run into the streets, trash everywhere, village, and charming in its own way!
My companion Elder Acevedo is such a boss. Before being here in Jujuy he was secretary in the mission offices! Our president asked him to the training program with me but seeing as he never was trained by it, and I have trained someone else with it, I am basically teaching him how to teach me. It is pretty funny! He is from Logan Utah. He shreddsssss the guitar like a mad man! We work so well and hard together. We seriously use up all the minutes of the day to the point that we have had to sprint to our apartment 4 nights this past week! It is not a small distance either!
We are currently teaching a guy named Fernando. His family is all members. His partner Noelia (they aren't married), His sons Axle and Angel, and twin daughters Paulina and Valeria. I love this family so much. Fernando has been taught before but I guess just wasn't ready to accept the gospel. We go over about every other night to their house. On Sunday we went to his house and I ate my first Argentine asado! It was super good! We were talking about soccer and he asked us which of the Argentine teams we like. 3 of the 4 of us said river which is the one he likes and since I have yet to buy a river jersey he gave me one right then and there! I pray so fervently that his heart will be softened. There is nothing I would like more than to see them as an eternal family! Anyways, that's about it I think for the week!
We have our last zone conference coming up with President Levrino. I'm super excited for that! I love you guys so much! Thanks for the prayers and thoughts! Remember that every member is a missionary!
Con muchisimo amor y animo,
Elder McKee
President and Sister Levrino with our district
