Spencer's Semana 8

Monday, June 17, 2013

Este semana fue major! This work is hard! It is a bad day when we drive around all day knocking doors and not talking to basically anyone! We have people tell us to come back later all the time but they never answer the second time! haha It is so funny when people are so obviously in the house and they just don't answer the door! We had one lady open her door and as soon as she processed who was at the door she slammed it shut! Oh and there was one lady who pulled up to her garage as we were standing at her door knocking and she waved at us, pulled into the garage and shut it and never came to the door or anything! I wasn't even mad at that one because it was so funny! We really don't have as much success as I would like!

Currently our most promising investigator is this kid named Orlando! He had a big Mexican Catholic family and his parents asked us to teach Orlando because he is a bad kid! They asked us if we could come every week and we had no objections obviously! His parents think he is like Satan's spawn! He is just a normal 14 year old boy I think. His mom scares me so bad! She only speaks Spanish and speaks it FAST! She has only one tone of voice and that is mad. ha All we do is teach him the gospel of Christ! His parents see the change that they want so everyone is happy! If Orlando could get baptized right now I think he would! We give him book of Mormon assignments and he always reads! He recognizes the Spirit and is just awesome! I don't think his parents realize that he is reading the Book of Mormon! We are planning on giving them Moroni's challenge this week in return for our exorcism services to Orlando! I hope that they just give us the time of day to share the message of the restoration! I know that if any person on this face of this planet took Moroni's challenge they would know the truth! We invited him and his mom to church! I waited for them for the first half of sacrament out in the foyer but they were no shows! Then I had to bring an Elder that was in our branch to confirm one of his old investigators back to his area and pick up my comp. We got so lost trying to find our way back to Del Mar!!!! It was so frustrating! We eventually found our way back and to our pleasure we ran into Orlando and his mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They came! They loved it! The ward invited Orlando to a bunch of activities coming up and he is going! I wish we had more investigators and more lessons but those things come with work, diligence and most of all faith! And a positive attitude helps!

I think I am turning Mexican! I am seriously  in love with soccer! I love it! If I could go back through high school I would play soccer! I think I'm pretty good too! I'm going to get some soccer shoes and then I really will be good!

The members fed us a lot more this week! Sister Soto bought us a pizza and a 2 liter of mtn dew!!! I LOVE SISTER SOTO!!!! She is amazing! She is a recent convert and is tri lingual! She speaks English, Spanish and sign language! Her son and his wife are completely deaf. She is amazing! Elder Munoz is great! He speaks great Spanish but I wish he spoke it more! He wants to always work on his English though. It is sometimes hard for me to listen to him. He expects me to be perfect when he is not? He was sick this week and was a real pleasure to deal with let me tell ya! It would have been real nice to give him a good pile driver to the face!

Everyone down here tells me I look like John Cena! It is so funny :P Mexicans and their wrestling......

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you! I am the driver of our companionship! haha I'm driving in my first transfer! That is pretty much unheard of :P I love you all and hope you have a good summer week! Thanks for your love and prayers! I met a sister here that is also waiting for her visa for Salta and she has been here for 6 months :'( Please pray that I don't get stuck here for that long! I like it here but not that much!

The church is true! I know that with all my heart! I am especially grateful for the opportunity to have the Holy Spirit as a constant companion! Make sure you are all living worthy of His presence! Never take Him for granted! Without the Spirit we would all be lost! Please support the missionaries in your areas! They need member help!

Con mucho amor,
Elder McKee
