Spencer's Semana 10

Monday, July 1, 2013

Wow this week blew by! Not much has happened either! Definitely a highlight of my week has been receiving love from my beloved tia Karen and amiga Lexie!!!!!! Thank you all for the goodies!

This week we went to McAllen for a new missionary training thing. That was pretty cool to get out of Loredo for a second! We had some classes and learned about how we should be using our study time and how we can effectively use Spanish throughout the day. Then after they gave us money to take our comps out to eat lunch! We went to 5 guys which was oh so delicious!!!! We spent like 6 hours that day in cars driving which was awesome because we were allowed to listen to music! I found this song that goes like "how can I be, like my brother Nephi, like my father Lehi, oh how can I be? like Captain Moroni in the wars that were told etc....." it is seriously awesome. I suggest someone google those lyrics or something because it is the bomb.com!!!!

On Wednesday we went to talk to this old investigator whose name is Jacob! Jacob wasn't there but his twin brother Samuel was! It was his birthday and he celebrated with a blood system full of heroine and a pack of cigarettes! He was out on his porch about to cut his own hair and I offered to cut his hair for him! I though ahhh this is gonna be easy! And then he's like, can you do a fade??? hahahhah I was like of course I can! And then I just starting doing serious work on this dude's head while we talked about scriptures and why we need to be baptized! He surprisingly had  pretty good religious knowledge! He thinks Obama is the anti Christ so I guess Samuel and I are pretty good friends! He told us to come back the next day so we did! As we approached the house Samuel walked out but we had a chance to talk with Jacob this time. Jacob is super cool. He has had a really tough life! He too is addicted to heroine! He said the only time he has been able to stay clean for any extensive period of time was when he got out of jail and he was only clean for 6 weeks. It is amazing to me how him and Samuel would just tell us everything! Like seriously graphic stories and details about their life and all the bad things they have done. I wish I could share them but I'm not exactly sure who all reads these so maybe I won't. Anyway, at the end of our lesson with Jacob out of the bathroom comes Samuel with a syringe on his ear, a shoe lace hanging around his neck and a spoon in his hand. yeah, put 1 and 2 together and they = Samuel just did heroine in the bathroom!!??!@#$%%#$!$ what the heck!?!??! This place is crazy! haha wow. I have never seen anything like that before!

Yesterday after church we went and had dinner with la familia Bryant. They are recent converts and soooooooooo cool! Oh man his daughter has such a pretty spirit! ;P Besides that, we walk in and just have a little conversation and then he invites us to his bedroom where he starts shredding this key board! Like his own little variations on hyms and then he starts bangin out some salsa and other kinds of latin music! haha it was sick! And what's cool is he has never had a lesson! He has read one book about piano music theory and is just a master! Oh can't forget to mention that he is also a jefe at drawing!!!!! He draws these portraits that look like actual pictures! He is so cool. We ate carne asada tacos my favorite and these jalapenos stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon..... OH MY BIEN RICO!!!!!!

I love the letters that I got from my old students! Alison and Hanna!  Thanks you two so much!!!! Oh and Lexie those kit kats when I got them were sooooooooo melted! haha They went great on top of ice cream! I love you all so much! this week has been tough. We had little success finding new people. When at that training I stole a really cool quote from my old companion. It reads," it was never easy for Him". I love this because no matter how hard we think we have it there is always Jesus Christ who has been through every single tough time. I am so thankful for my Savior and for the miracle that He has made possible for us to receive forgiveness and comfort for all our errors and tough times!

These pictures just reflect Loredo Texas perfectly! This is the sketchiest apartment complex I have seen ever and this is the worlds most in effective guard dog ever! (the pitbull is actually out of the frame) and I steal lighters for the people's own good!  Thanks again for all the goodies and letters I got this week! I love you all so much! Thanks for the love and prayers! Please be the best member missionaries you possibly can! Share this wonderful gospel with all!!!!!

Con mucho amor,
Elder McKee
