Hey everybody I
just want to start out by telling you all that this week has been a great one!
Luckily this week truly turned around for us and we were almost too busy to
even know where our time all went! It was truly a blessing to see how much work
we had to do this week and how much support we have had from the ward! Finally I
feel like the ward, which has had a lot of bad missionaries pass by, is
starting to recognize that we are here to get stuff done and not just to pass
the time by! Haha. It’s only taken them
8 baptisms and 4 months to recognize it but finally they are starting to
support us in visits and in the big service projects I feel like we almost
always have our hands in!This week started off very average, working everyday doing the everyday work like contacting, teaching, and retaining lost members. Little by little though, the week began to become a hill and the hill was made up of work. My comp and I thought about it and after a few moments we decided we could do one of two things, we could walk up the hill and see how far we would get by the end of the week or we could run and get the farthest our bodies could carry us! By Thursday our work all truly began to pay off with a few new families to begin teaching and a huge service project that turned out to be a giant success!
We as missionaries have been working with this one family, that is the family Rodriguez, and they are a family full of less actives. We have been working with them for about 2 months trying to reactivate them and almost always we are doing little acts of service for them and doing all we can to help them. This week we were so blessed to be given the opportunity to build them an adobe house made out of mud. Luckily, we had the help of the Elder’s Quorum, who with the help of the new president has become a huge help to us! The service project began at 7 in the morning and we worked all morning and afternoon making mud and plastering it over the stick walls we had made just the week before!! The work was long and it was extremely difficult but with time and lots of physical sacrifice we were able to finish the project and give them a new home to live in!! I love service!!
Truly I wish I had more to say and I really do, but I don’t have the time I need to say it all!! I just want to tell you all that this week has been amazing and I love you all!!
Love,
Elder Jonah
McKee
