This week was rough numbers wise! Not much to be said about success. One thing that was awesome though was that I was able to contact 70 (the standard of excellence) people for the first time in my whole mission! I was so stoked. But of course as I did my victory dance my comp had to trash my party by screaming louder saying;"SO WHAT? I DID 78 LAST WEEK!!!!" Well thanks Canada. Oh yeah, Elder Fillis is from Canada. Before getting to know him I actually thought Canada was a cool country! It is really passive, they do their own thing, they are good at the winter Olympics, especially hockey.... a bunch of stuff! Moose.... I like moose too!
But now, I hate Canada with a passion! Everyone told me Argentines are prideful but no one ever warned me about the Canadians! I have had it up to here (me, signaling with my hand to my forehead as if I were saluting) with outward Canadian pride! Sorry Wesley. Argggh.... pray for me.
Today was awesome! We went to do something different than the same ol' same old! We traveled to a little town called Pumamarca. It is world famous for a rock that has 7 colors! It actually just reminded me of Red Rock at home but it was nice. I felt at home in my natural habitat! Be assured I will send a bunch of glorious pictures from my adventure in Pumamarca!
This week my head has been eating itself alive thinking about one of our converts named Nahuel. He is a little punk of 15 years. He is the brother of Alan, the most faithful member who accompanies us almost every day and does any favor we need! Nahuel is a cool kid but he has a heart of stone. It probably has more to do with the fact that he is still a kid and doesn't understand anything right now in his life but he is really hard to teach. We have been teaching him this whole transfer trying to convince him to be baptized with no avail!
This week while on divisions I taught him and found out the root of the problem.... HE DOESN'T EVEN BELIEVE GOD EXISTS! That's a BIG problem. So this week as I've been thinking about this problem, I have been devouring Mosiah and more specifically the talk of King Benjamin. It is awesome! It is so direct and powerful, I wish I taught like him. Well, King Benjamin does have an advantage, he was ministered by angels before he spoke to his people so I guess it's a little unfair. But I love what it says...
Mosiah 5:2 "And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no
more disposition to do evil , but to do good continually."
King Benjamin is a beast! I want that power! Sometimes I wish that I could just open the eyes of the people I teach so that they can understand that there is a higher power and that His hand is in their lives. I hope that even though I don't teach the way King Benjamin did that the Spirit will be able to touch Nahuel's heart and bear witness to him that there is a loving Father in heaven and that He knows each one of us. I hope that through the testifying of the Spirit, Nahuel will come to understand this truth and that he will be able to recognize the hand of the Lord in this world.
I love you all. I know the Lord has a plan for each one of us and I hope that we can all come to know that plan.
take care!
