Jonah's Week 21

Monday, March 23, 2015

Ok! Well to start off I am now forgetting English! haha I know that sounds weird but it's the truth! I am forgetting English! The other day I was out contacting and I ran into a guy that speaks perfect English because he lived in Los Angeles for 3 years! He started talking to me in English and I swear to you my brain blew up!! I could feel the gears of my mind clogging as I tried to figure out why I could understand what he was saying... It was not registering with my mind that he was speaking English! I could only register two things in my mind: 1st that he was not speaking in Spanish and 2nd that I could, for some strange reason, understand what he was saying. MY MIND JUST WASN'T WORKING!! haha I continued responding to this man in Spanish because I was so confused and did not understand for the life of me that he was speaking in English until he finally said to me "Hey you can speak to me in ENGLISH, I want to practice" right after he said that I could just feel my brain jam right back into gear and I started spewing out English! haha

I honestly do not know how to describe how mind boggling the experience truly was! haha Well yea I can say I was lost for a good minute there and after I started speaking to him in English I felt even more lost! haha It has been so long since I taught in English that for me to teach in English felt like it was forced! It felt like I was searching in my mind for the words I wanted to say like as if I was using a dictionary; just flipping through the pages of this dictionary that I have bottled up in my big head! It was so surreal I can't even express! after leaving that appointment I felt so tired! I felt mentally exhausted like it was hard work for me to teach in English but it was all fine because now he is an investigator and I am happy about that! So yea all day I was mind blown and all week I have been thinking of how I could possibly describe that situation and this was the best description I could come up with but still, it doesn't do the moment justice!

So yea to day is my p-day and for our activity went to the Cristo here in Honduras!!! I had a really good time and to be that close to a giant sculpture of Christ really is something special! It makes me wonder, why doesn't our church have giant statues of Christ? Then I remembered that we have something better! We have a temple! It's the House of the Lord and even though I felt close to God while I was at the Cristo I still didn't feel anything close to what I feel while I am in the temple!

I love the Lord and today I really learned one thing amazing! This world is a small world and all of us are children of God! I am here to teach people of Christ and today I had my second opportunity to teach in English this week! I was standing beneath the Cristo and I heard somebody in English say " why are there holes in His hands?" I then automatically responded and said, "Hi! I speak English too! Where are you from? I'm from Las Vegas!" The people then began to explain that they live in Tucson, Arizona and I then began to explain to them why there are holes in the hands of Christ! I was amazed that they did not know the story of the crucifixion but now they do!

I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be here to preach of Christ and I am especially grateful for the opportunity I had to preach at the feet of Christ today! I hope to one day join Christ in the spirit world and do that once again! Stand at the feet of our Lord and Savior and declare His gospel to every soul waiting to receive it! I love temples and I know the work we do in those temples is for the eternal salvation of man. Take advantage of the opportunity you have to do temple work and know in your heart the whole time you're there in the temple that you are saving the soul of a person and bringing them unto Christ! I love you all and I love this church! Please keep me in your prays! I am in an area that really needs as many blessings as it can receive so please pray to help me progress the work here in the area "Valencia B".

Thanks for everything!!! I love you!
